Creaky Fun!

Featured Replies

Right, my Felicia Fun creaks.

When turning from lock to lock, or general slow manouvering you get varying loud creaks from the front end.

Any ideas what it could be?

Alex

Id say more than likely a bottom ball joint but could be a top mount.

See if you can feel where its strongest when a friend turns the steering for you.

OK - I thought it could be top mounts, but didn't think about the bottom ball joint...

Ill let you know on my findings!

I had the exact same problem, the noise was driving me mad. Had the top mount replaced this morning.

I've been having a similar problem and was scouring the forums for answers. Clonking on full lock? There's lots of theories out there but no firm answers. Best get it seen to by someone who knows a thing or two...

My sister-in-law was driving our Felicia a couple of days ago when there was "a bit of a bang" and then the steering wheel / gears started shaking badly. Stopped. Had a breather. Started again and the shaking continued so got towed to safety. Her local friendly garage says that the inner driveshaft joint had locked up (not a massively common problem) hence the juddering. I'm curious to know if the full-lock-clonking was a sign that it was due to expire.

The garage say that they'll probably replace the whole driveshaft (labour & parts = £188) - I'll post again once I know all the details.
