Careful which spare wheel set you order!

Featured Replies

Have a 2011 model year Yeti 1.2 TSI SE Auto which I bought as an ex-demo.

Dealer ordered a spare wheel kit and it came as the wrong fit.

It appears that depending on if you have a 1 or 2 pipe exhaust the kit is different (mine is 1 tailpipe).

Found this out from this forum but dealer had no idea and just ordered a 'spare wheel kit'....

Hopefully re-ordered parts will fit if and when they arrive.........

Dealer very unprofessional!!!

Ordered other items...rear door protective foils etc and the next day delivery mentioned before sale

for spares isn't working out at all....

Anybody had experience of undue delays for spares?

My dealer told me that pre 2011 models have two tail pipes. New to 2011 models in one wide tail pipe. For 1.2 engines.

And I have 2011 model with one tail pipe and I got correct spare wheel. There's no two spare wheel types. I think your dealer made a mistake and thats it.

Spare tyre right part but rest of kit (plastic boxes wrong) didn't fit.

Ex-demo car even had missing compressor and tyre gunge canister.

2 tailpipe diesel in showroom had completely different set... not sure what model year.

Im confused, is this "kit" something that comes with the spare wheel ???

I assume the fact the exhaust has been modified and has somehow changed the spare wheel well is the issue.

The dealer tried to fit a 2 pipe exhaust spare wheel kit in my 1 pipe 2011 model year and it would not fit means they have

changed the spare wheel arrangement and its associated storage bins/stored items arrangement.

Otherwise there would be no need to change anything if the car metal has not changed.

All I know is the Skoda dealer could not fit it and is re-ordering.

It is not my problem I just want a 2011 yeti with the correct spare wheel fitted.

As delivered even the compressor and tyre gunge was missing....can it really be that difficult!!!!!

I seem to recall a discussion on here about which way up the wheel is stored. There was some suggestion that the boot floor pressing has changed with the different tailpipedesign on later models, to allow the wheel to go in dish downwards to give additional storage within the wheel rim?

This would have also reguired a slightly different retainer and side supports to go around the wheel?

Hi all,

have added an image of the new TSI spare wheel layout (kindly provided by Jessica) in the spare wheel guide My link This new arangement requires the wheel to be stored outside face up.

Finally got sorted after 2 visits to dealer (bought an ex demo and wanted spare wheel kit 2011 model year). Instead of ordering a kit they did it by robbing a car with it and ordering the tool kit centre polystyrene part.

It appears to be OK (they fitted the different netting as suggested on this forum).

Only issue is the rubber boot mat (not the tray with lip) does not fit front to back with the now raised floor and overhangs the rear well of the rear seats....is there a different version???

Dealer a bit clueless fitting rear door protection too...they insisted it fitted flat on only and not wrapping around the door edge (skoda item not subsitute)

until I pointed out their error and insisted otherwise.

Lots of hassle and no goodwill offered.

Sorry to mix topics but lots of smaller one's appears excessive!

One thing the dealer mentioned which might cause confusion (assuming it's true) ......

"You cannot yet order the 2011 model year spare wheel kit as one part number on their parts ordering system"...... so

if they don't get it right from ordering single parts to make it up it causes fitment problems.

I'm advised "it will soon be available under one part number".

If true Skoda need to get their act together if repeats of my saga are not to occur.

After long term satisfaction with Honda/Honda dealer this experience as a new Skoda owner is not looking good.

Barely got more than excuses and can't recall an apology from our Skoda dealer who I won't name.

Probably look elsewhere next time.

Slightly ot but we also previously owned a Honda and they offered by far the best dealer service of any marque we've owned. All I will say is that where as Honda all seemed to be of a high standard, Ford of a lower standard (although Im sure there are some good ones out there....), Skoda seem very variable indeed.

The supplying dealer was really bad for attention to detail and even removed one of the rear door protection stickers to put right one of the delivery faults. They never replaced it and instead of saying - 'we forgot to order it' - told me a story of it being on back order for weeks and that he'd ring when it came in.... needless to say he never rang and I got one in my hand from the local dealer within 48hrs with no supply issues! (Both local dealer groups could see tham as available on the system!) I know which dealer has now got the booking for the first service!
