Numpty PCP question

Featured Replies

Sorry for asking such a daft question, but am about 6 months into a PCP on my Scout. I took it out with an annual mileage of 15k, but for various reasons (job move, wife liking the new car too much!) it it looking like I will exceed this, probably about 18k a year.

We will definitely buy the car and keep it at the end of the lease, but in the meantime, am I likely to be frowned at by the dealer when I take it in for a service, or be made to pay any intermediate excess mileage payments?

Shouldn't think so.

The mileage only comes in IF you get to then end of the pcp and want to part ex or hand it back. If you buy it then there are no issues.

I suppose in some respect they are happy for you to go over as in 3 years time they think you wi give them more money!

I know I am going to go way over but I have put that into my calculations.

Enjoy.

This makes me smile as ive got the same problem. Im on PCP for three years with a maximum mileage of 30000. Had the car in june and already done 7000 miles so i am going to blow the mileage quote. I rang VW financial services and they said to me that as i intend to keep the car until the end of the finance period, there will be no penalty charges. The only time there would be penalty charges is when i try and give the car back any earlier than this. If i want to buy it outright then there wouldnt be charges wither. There is one thing you probably know though, the guaranteed final value of the car is no longer guaranteed if you exceed the mileage. As it looks like i am going to do about 55000 miles by the end of my agreement, i will be about 24000 miles over so it only makes sense that the car will be worth less than the GFV stated on the finance statement.

It annoyes me ever so slightly as the dealer did say it was based on 14000 miles per year, not 10000 but in any case, i would have gone over it!

Hope this helps!
