Has anyone on here fitted an s3 intercooler to their octavia as a lot of the golf and leon boys do? I also wondering about changing the intercooler pipes for ones that are much less restrictive and been doing some looking but hard to tell if they are different on the TSI compared to the FSI?

Sorry answering my own question on this one after some decent research you definately need the left (1K0 145 834 AA) and right (1K0 145 832 L) hoses and on the discharge pipe (this is the one that is connected behind the left pipe and goes up around the sump and belts) there will be a smal cut out in the pipe to connect and if this is on the lower right as you look form the front then its ok otherwise you need 1K0 145 762 BM. Hope this helps someone out and obviously you need the S3 intercooler (1K0 145 803P).

The coolers between the fsi and tsi are the same iirc. You should only need the S3 cooler, the left and the right hoses if you are fitting to a K03 car. I keep the S3 coolers and hoses in stock too

When I fitted mine, I did need the bottom right hose, but my Turbo pipe was "keyed" the correct way, so I left this as stock.

IIRC later vehicles will have the turbo pipe "keyed" a different way (mine is an '06).

There is a procedure for pulling the front crossmember forwards so you can access the intercooler & radiator, but I managed (with a lot of wiggling) to do this without having to move the crossmember, but real care is needed with the AC pipes!

Also there is a set procedure for re-filling the coolant, which should be followed. I can't remember what the issue was, but I was kindly given a print out of what to do! Unfortunately I've now no idea where I put it, but I'm sure that those with ELSAWIN or similar will be able to help you!

It's also worth having a spare set of the plastic pins that hold the bumper in place as the ping off all over the place!

I also used 8 x M6x12 Stainless Bolts to hold the new intercooler in place as the ones off the old one aren't suitable.

Ok cheers lads, im ok for fitting space as the car has no front end at the momment lol (pic if it is in the face lift, whats needed post i added on here) and so while im sorting it im planning on doing anything (within £ means) that i can before rebuilding the front (might be a fl or might not i cant decide at the mo). If anyone can think of anything worth doing while its stripped then please let me know as would hate to put it all back together and realise i could have easily swapped something out. Cheers

Cant afford the S3 intercooler at the mo as decided to get Eibach ARB's and had to buy a load of parts for the car so will have to get it at a later date :(
