Fabia vRS Rear Calipers

Featured Replies

Hi - Tried to change the rear pads on my 2006 vRS today. I've got a caliper re-wind tool that seems to have moved that calipers back in - but not quite enough. Looks like I need the caliper to go back about another 1mm, so close but not close enough.

I've had to put the old pads back in for now.

The pads are EBC standard pads - maybe the pads are a bit too think?

Is there a secret to moving the calipers back that last bit?

Cheers

Mark

are you using the original discs?

If you are it may be the lip on the disc causing it..... just run a screwdriver round the rusted part and remove the flakes....

Yep - and disconnected from the caliper

Taken the cap off the fluid reservoir? (Caught me out on my bike...)

Take it off when you wind it back....... ;)

I did - it just seems that the calipers are as far back as they can go.

Could it be that the new pads are a bit on the "thick" side?

Just measured the new pads - anywhere between 16.97 to 17.02mm thick

Lets call it 17mm - anyone know the thickness of genuine Skoda pads?

Quick update - borrowed a laser rewind tool and got the calipers back a bit further so that i can now get the new pads in.

But, in my haste I have managed to "nick" the dust seal on one side and make a small hole in it.

Are new dust seals available?

How do you change the seal?

Cheers
