Non-vRS Front Bumper Reinforcement

Featured Replies

Just wondering if there should be some kind of reinforcement along the bottom lip of the front bumper on an Octy Elegance.

Mine is a bit wavy and seems to have some pegs pointing backwards towards the undertray so I was wondering if it had been ripped off at some point?

I have seen some bumpers with a thin steel strip along the edge and I just wondered if my Octy should be like that too.

Having just taken my Elegance bumper off this weekend and replaced it with a VRS item I would have to say no. It was cracked in two places in the middle and subsequently hung down rather oddly. The VRS bumper is much stronger underneath and to my initial suprise just clipped into the existing wheel arch liners with no mods.

Thanks for the info.

I do fancy a vRS front bumper, but seeing as SWMBO has just put a pleat in the underside of the standard one, I wouldn't fancy it's chances long term :giggle:

Good to know that it would fit without any mods to the car though.

Forgot to mention standard Elegance black bumper trim insert is the same too - there is only one trim for 2001+ Mk1's. I just clipped my old one in. Was lucky enough to get a decent VRS bumper in the right colour off another forum member so with the new lower grills it's stood me £140. SWMBO doesn't like manual gearboxes so I am safe ;)
