Hello and a question

Featured Replies

Hi all, this is my first post having only just signed up!

I have recently bought a 08 Octy 170pd vrs. It`s an ex lease car with 82000 mls and full service history.

It looks like a new car inside and out , it`s even still got that "new car smell" the passenger seats have never been used, and neither has the spare wheel!

I`am very impressed with the build quality and level of equipment, and the fuel consuption is outstanding @ 56 mpg.

There is however, one thing that i`am not 100% sure about, The pedals are of the bare steel design, and the clutch seems set quite low with respect to the brake.

Also, the clutch has a fairly heavy action and the bite point is quite near the top, all this suggests that it might be on it`s way out.

The gear selection is quiet, easy and precise, with no vibration or judder.

My question is , is this normal for this version, or is it nearing the end of its life?

The dealer I bought it of is willing to have the clutch replaced F O C if`am not 100% happy , and this is planned for next week, but I dont want to have it all done just

to find the new one is the same!

Thank`s Bob,

Just take the FOC clutch and be very happy! :) It shouldn't really sit lower than the brake. They are pretty heavy, but the biting point definitely sounds too high on yours.

it should sit pretty level with the brake pedal. and should bite roughly half way up onwards.
