Clutch

Featured Replies

My clutch has just started slipping a little bit and obviously its only going to get worse its a 2003 110 tdi with 130k on clock. Anybody know if the flywheel is likely to need replacing aswell and any idea on rough price I dont expect it to be cheap! :'(

Any ideas would be great

Cheers Scott

Anybody?

IIRC, you have a Sachs clutch and dual mass flywheel (DMF).

A Sachs clutch kit is roughly £200 and a Sachs DMF is roughly £300. You probably only need the clutch kit, but you won't be sure until the gearbox is off. The labour would be about £150-200.

Another option is a Solid Mass Flywheel (SMF) conversion kit which would cost about £230. Labour would be about the same.

It's probably got a DMF which are a bit pricey but you could look to replace with a single mass one instead though you may or may not get some vibration with this.

It's probably worth doing the flywheel as well.

My 2003 110tdi is on 90k at the moment and I was wondering how much life there was in the clutch the other day.

Ballpark figure about £500 supplied and fitted (if it needs a new flywheel as well but they probably won't know that until they take the box off).

AFAIK the diesel Octys have a DMF same as the petrol ones, that is the most expensive part of it (and the labour, it's a good few hours work)

There's a 1999 near me that has 215000 on the original clutch

All depends on how the owners have driven the car, mine died at 75k. FSH, 2 owners... One of them must have been a prat tbh.

Hopefully I'm pretty easy on the clutch. Good job the mother in law hasn't driven it she destroyed the clutch on her micra in about 20k.
