140 DSG costs more than a 170 manual

Oops! By adding the DSG gearbox to my order I have just realised I have now ordered the most expensive Yeti you can get! emoticon-0124-worried.gif Base price of a 140 DSG is £23,045 vs £22,640 for a 170 manual! And add to that just over £4500's worth of factory and dealer options and I think I'm giving Davecarter's Yeti a run for its title of also being in the top five most expensive Skodas ever delivered... oops. Honestly did not mean to Guv! emoticon-0145-shake.gif

With all the additional and driveline options, there is a fair gap between the basic and the all singing all dancing ones. Considering it's broadly the same vehicle.

Interestingly, we considered reordering the 4x4 DSG diesel with a whole raft of extras when it becamse available. But the 1.2 Petrol DSG with a few options seems to suit our use and was about 8k cheaper. We've only done 30 miles a week, other than collecting from the dealer.

I wish you many miles of playing will all those gadgets. B)

Speccing a car "just right" is sooo difficult!

Someone off this forum bought a 3.6 V6 Superb with all the toys on it.

That was the most expensive Skoda I've ever sold, the next 3 have all been Yetis!

But it can also be a lot of fun! To get all the kit I'm getting in a Tiguan, Land Rover or BMW et al would have cost a LOT more. So I'm well chuffed and still see it as a bargain (of sorts).

Hmmm... I wonder if a 3,6 V6 will fit in a Yeti engine bay.... emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

A bare basic Q5 without even the option of matallic paint added I dare say. No thanks. I much, much prefer the no nonsense non-snobby feel of owning a Skoda.

I did consider a Q5, but a reasonable spec one was coming in at about 32k because of the option costs. Yes, the Yeti was 2WD only, but it cost half that. :o

You are quite right to still see it as a bargain. Look at the equivalent specced BMW X1, Audi or Volvo XC60 and you would be looking at £32k+.

Toys are fun!

(I hadn't looked at the figure above when I quoted £32k. That was a good guess)

And none of those have nearly the same amount of charm that the Yeti has. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif Or are so exclusive! Nor is the Yeti an in-your-face look-at-me wideboy car like some of those mentioned. Now to just get the darn thing delivered!

I thought you already owned an Audi?emoticon-0136-giggle.gif Must admit I'd also rather have more toys and save on the badge

emoticon-0140-rofl.gif Oh I do, but it is the smallest little Audi you could get for the last 10 years! I think it is both shorter and narrower than the PREVIOUS Fabia let alone the current one!

I can just about justify it, as it is my office.emoticon-0136-giggle.gif.

The thing is about the Yeti, because it is such good value (imho) and yet desirable (even cool??) I think many people are happy to load it with toys - hence the high ratio of Elegance specced cars. If Skoda put in a bigger engine or more sophisticated options (maybe an electric passenger seat even?), I am sure they would be snapped up. I guess Skoda's hands are tied by VAG to avoid them encroaching on their "premium" territory

Probably their most innovative car in the last 20 years, I love them. :)

At this very moment in time I do not like this 'premium' vw polo I'm driving, or rather should be driving. It has overheated, so I am at the side of the road waiting for the RAC to arrive. Thankfully the iPhone has a little service here and I can amuse myself while waiting for them to turn up.

Good old RAC. Fantastic. thermostat had seized. Back on the road now.
