4th service... and squeaky driver's seat!

Featured Replies

Hi all. Had my Fabia vRS serviced in May. It had around 44k on the clock and was just over 3 years old. (Jan 07 Reg).

Just wondering what all should be carried out on a fourth service?

Also, there is a strange squeak that comes from under the driver's seat. I'm guessing a good oiling might fix this. How the hell do I get under the seat without taking it out?

Thanks,

J

just had mine done it should be all the usual including oil and fuel filters

check a post called 'creak be gone' by Mr wobblytickle, shows it all for you and it works.

Are you asking about the next service or the last service?

I can't understand your service history from what you've stated. By now at 44k it should already have had four services - every 10k or one year whichever comes first.

If you're asking about the last service then it should be on the invoice. It should have been the major 40,000 service costing around £325.

If you're asking about the next service - which should be the fifth - then it will be a minor Inspection service.

Hi again. I had my cousin service the car at around 40K. He did a great job. But I was thinking of selling the car, so decided to have it serviced at a Skoda garage. They said the belt wouldn't need changed until 60k or 4 years old.

After looking at your attachment, it looks like they missed some things

The car will be 4 years old at the end of Jan 2011. I'm on about 47k now, and easily see me hitting 50k by then as well.

Cheers,

J

No - it's 4 years or 60k miles - whichever comes first - at least for a Fabia vRS. The service schedule I've posted above relates to all Skodas not just the Fabia...

The spreadsheet is meant to state:

40000 - Toothed belt for camshaft drive and tensioning pulley: change (diesel engine TDI and SDI up to and including chassis number Y2311526 - Octavia)

60000 - Toothed belt for camshaft drive: change (diesel engine TDI and SDI from chassis number Y2311526 - Octavia, 1.9 ltr TDI & SDI Fabia), do not replace tensioning pulley

The spreadsheet comes from HERE

Just had a look and all his posts pre-april 09 are gone, dunno if that is when the site went ti*s up? maybe. CBA checking anyone elses to see......

Anyway:

open up the front section of the front seat surround (black plastic panel, pops off at the side nearest the door then kind of pull it round to the side, gently!)

get some WD40 or similar with the pipe on the nozzle and aim it at the springs you will see on both sides of the runners, don't go mad or the car will stink for ages.

Replace the surround, Move the seat fore and aft a few times to sporead the oil around then set yourself up.

Works for me, only have to reapply when the seat gets moved (like later after my 50k service).

Creak be gone!
