What's in a 'Clutch Kit'?

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know what's in a 'clutch kit'?

Does it generally include the clutch master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder or none of these? Is it usual to replace these two items at the same time as the clutch?

Also, has anyone on here used the 'Mr Clutch' autocentres to get a new clutch? Are they any good - they're certainly about £100 cheaper than anywhere else........

Cheers

A kit will usually be just the plate, cover and release bearing, the master cylinder and slave cylinders will not be included.

Clutch plate and cover!

They might not even include the bolts to bolt it to the flywheel

Release bearing is sometimes included best to check

No master cylinder and no need to replace it anyway

Have only heard good things about mr clutch mate, can see why they are alot cheaper, because they specialise in clutches and won't have to cover the cost of things other garages would have to. Little is really needed to change one. Depends how much you love your car and I have noises about warrantys from them compared to dealer. Assuming you get one on a clutch

Just done a quote on the tinterweb

I'm assuming at this price that WONT include DMF?

Edited by CJS-90

That is clutch only but when your there you might aswell replace dmf!

That seems a very reasonable price. And no, that definitely won't include the DMF for that price :o

Yeah yeah I know, how much are DMF's on their own? (So I can work out a rough price)

Thanks for all your advice everyone.

I got the same £261.99 quote from Mr Clutch when I rang them up.

Didn't think it would include DMF for that price.
