17" Polished proteus alloys for Scout

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've recently ordered an Octavia Scout (yeay!) which will be delivered around March (boo!) and I was looking at the options list and wondered:

Has anybody ordered the polished proteus alloys for the extra £80?

They look like they have a dark middle section (which i like) in the brochure but i dont think i can trust that picture. Does anybody have other pictures of them or can verify what they are like in real life

Thanks... oh, and hello :)

That would be great if you could do that as I'll need to add it to the order pretty sharpish. Even if you dont get time to take a picture straight away (although surely you'll want to take pictures of your new pride and joy!), your initial impression would be useful.

I never thought I would be so excited about getting a skoda but the next 6 months are going to be agonising. Hope you're happy with yours.

Likewise, I'm collecting my Scout on Monday complete with polished proteus alloys, a bit of a gamble when speccing having not seen them in flesh so to speak.

6 months is about right, I ordered mine towards the end of March, but I did make a few changes to the spec along the way that undoubtedly lengthened the process. I'll have a go at taking a few photos as well, before the wheels get too muddy... :D

I don't get it, the standard Scout Proteus alloys are polished too? The spoke surfaces have a highly polished finish to them, the rest is standard silver paint.

Calling the new alloys 'polished' does this then mean that more of the wheel is now polished!?

I'd be a little miffed if I'd ordered and paid extra for the polished alloys over the standard wheels only to discover they were'nt any more polished!

If its just the dark paint around the spokes and wheel centre then £20 a corner seems a little steep - although they do look good

Lets hope as well as polishing them and adding some black paint they've made them a lot more resistant to stone chips and delamination.

I've yet to see a Scout over 18 months old without flaking alloys... including mine, and I'm on my second set

A few years a go I had a BMW 3 series with self delaminating wheels, they looked awful, I had to have each wheel refurbished at a cost of £50 each before I sold it! And I've got a Mazda 5 at the moment which is 5 years old and its wheels are deteriating quickly, although this could have something to do with the number of times my wife has curbed it! My current Ford is 4 years old and the wheels look like new!

Is the probelm with wheel delamination only applicable to the Scout?

Lets hope as well as polishing them and adding some black paint they've made them a lot more resistant to stone chips and delamination.

I have had six replaced (all under warranty) in under 18 months - first two, then all four.

Lets keep this thread on track - its about the optional polished wheels not the apparently rubbish quality. There is already a link to 3 pages of miffed comments on this thread :S

So... pictures anybody?

I've ordered a pretty simple spec

Metallic Silver

Alcantara seats

Variable boot floor

Mobile device interface + ipod lead

very tempted with the polished alloys.

Thats it. Didnt feel I needed anything else but I'll be getting a 3rd party towbar fitted.

What've you gone for?

Picked up Scout today which was ordered in April with the following:

Black magic , zenons, drl leds, polished alloys, maxidot, varible boot floor, curtain airbags, front parking sensors, spare wheel and tow bar prep.

Really pleased with whole package including the wheels and good service by Caffyns Ashford, I have already put a layer of collinite 476 on and jetseal 109 on the wheels!!

Gaz 196, that is an awesome Car - I have also ordered the polished alloys and judging by the look of yours I am glad that I have. I ordered my Scout last week and it won't be ready until Feb/Mar next year! When I spoke to Griffin Tax Free the salesman told me the waiting list for a Scout is twice as long as for the Porsche Boxster.

They look good but I think you will need to be careful what colour car you put them on as with some I dont think they will compliment the car, they look good on Black & will also probably be OK on Grey & Silver, others I will wait & see BUT colour is a very personal thing so my opinion only

Ooo, those alloys look sweet on Black Magic, remind me of the Golf GTi's.

Could you post a picture of the LED DRL's turned on? B)

My Scout is identical (excluding the front parking sensors and new wheels) - oh and its not a facelift!

I've yet to see another Octavia that's made me envious - until today :'(

Wow - I was 100% happy with mine (http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/173365-my-new-scout/) until I saw yours! The wheels look great with Black Magic. From the brouchure I was expecting the wheels to have black centres, but that anthracite-y grey looks very cool.

Great car - enjoy it - I'm still making excuses to go and pick up shopping in Kent!

Sounds fab and Gaz good luck with your new car looks great, Im very jealous.

In answer to your question flee I have made a very nervous decision and gone with my wife and picked Brunello rosso or at least I think thats what its called?( Its been that long! early June )

In fairness she does have a point in that every car we have owned has been a shade of silver, grey or black as are the 27 cars of 34 in the street. So yes looking forward to getting car just hope decisions work or I will be saying forever "SEE MRS TOLD YOU WE SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH MY CHOICE ANTHRACITE GREY"

With regards to making changes I made a number of changes months after ordering and as long as it hasn't been confirmed with a build wk it was never a problem all I was told that it may change build wk which it only did once by one wk.

Metallic rosso

Alcantara heated seats

Xenons

Bluetooth and wheel controls

Silver roof rails

Curtain airbags

Spare wheel

Polished alloys (Delighted with pictures shown by Gaz )

Had ordered variable floor but thought enough is enough so changed it! Should arrive in a couple of wks all going well

I think red could be a great choice... a risky choice but i think it could be a winner. Thats a great spec!

Think the wheels look fab so i'll be phoning the dealer in the morning :-)

It does look amazing in black. Personally i wanted the chunky plastics to contrast more but having seen the pics i think it looks great... happy driving fella.

Really, really nice, wish I'd gone for those alloys now, your pictures will probably encourage a fair few to go for that option, because they are far better than any brochure pictures I've seen. My fully specced Cappuccino Scout is on a ship that has just left Tahiti, next stop Auckland on 23rd Sep, so not too much longer to wait now.

Is that privacy glass you've got fitted? The glass in the rear passenger and boot area looks significantly darker than the driver's window.

Simon - only guessing but I think that's the standard spec 'Sunset Glass' - mine looks very similar. Not long for you now...!

It is standard on scout.
