car mats

Featured Replies

Having had my Fabia for a month, I decided it was due for a clean up inside, and discovered that I don't know how to take the front mats out. They appear to be fastened down, and I think it may be a strong press stud, but am worried about applying too much force in case they are not.

I do feel ridiculous asking how to take a mat out of the car, but hey, it's better than wrecking something

Hi Mate, the studs should turn mate and the mats will come out.

There isn't anything to turn unfortunately, maybe they've changed the design. In my last car there was something to turn, not in this one

ah Ok, I'm not sure then mate.

You have slid the seat right back as far as it will go havent you?

I was surprised how far back on the Fabia mats the locking tab was compared to my Bora ones

thanks but I was having no difficulty seeing the fastening, only in pulling the mat off them. My husband has used a bit of brute force and got them up, they do just go on like a press stud, and I assume they were just so stiff with being new, because they clipped back on ok

The mat clips on my vRS, you turn by 90° using your fingers or a long-nosed pliers. I can't comment on our other Fabia (comfort) as they did not come with any when we bought it.

Sounds like you have the VW style fasteners to me mate. My Bora had 'em too.

I ordered some aftermarket replacement mats for my vRS and they sent me that

type first of all. They quickly sent me the correct type after an email or two

and let me keep the incorrect ones ...

I bought a set of 8 oem skoda mat fastenings and switched them.

(20 pence each or so, main dealer) The incorrect mats now reside in

Mrs Grrs previously un matted SDI.

I ended up getting two sets for about £20... Nice.

Just pull the mat up, it really is that simple.

to be extra safe slip your hand under it and hold the carpet underneath

down with your fingers before pulling on the fixture.
