Felicia 1,9D - hard to start when "halfwarm" (Solved :) )

Featured Replies

Hi.

My Felicia 1,9 D starts easily when cold and warm, but Its hard to get started if it have been stopped for 15-30mins after a normal drive and the engine is at "halfwarm" temperature. I have to operate the starter for 10-15 seconds or so to get it started. The glow plugs are not activated at this temperature and I guess this migth be the reason? Any suggestions?

try changing the coolant temperature sensor

I have ordered one today. Hope it solves the problem :)

good  it's a very common problem to get hot starting faults on those, one thing you can try is simply unplugging the sensor and see if that makes any difference

Hi,

Replaced the sensor for a week ago. Seems the problem is solved. The glow plugs activate at starting even when temp gauge shows 70`C

Glad you got it sorted. Very common problem on felicias is the temp sender and can cause all sorts of starting/running problems.

There was an elettric motor starter prolem on my Felicia 1.9 D, It turned very slow, and so when the glow pugs don't started began the problem, electric starter cables was bad connected to battery and electric ground, now the starter turn faster ad there's no problem on half temperature.

Good point! I feel that my starter also turns slowly, so it migth be a good idea to check my cables.
