Collinite

I've been doing alot of research today on this

Collinite 476s:

Collinite #476 is so durable that the manufacture claims one application will last a full 12 months come rain, snow and sun!

But i've seen it works best on silver and light colour cars and gives a gloss effect

And this

Collinite 915:

collinite915.jpg

But on the Collinite website it says its a polish Look

Also seen that it gets better results on a darker car and gives more of a deeper warm effect

I Don't know which one to get.

Help.

I Ordered a tub of the 476s last night after recommendations

from foey and Wardy.

I'll use it in conjunction with Poorboys Black Hole show glaze

using it as a sealant for over the sheen achieved with the Poorboys.

Should be here tomorrow.

Both Collinite 476s and 915 perform well, 915 may well be said to have less durability than 476s but this is dependant on many factors............

FK1000p is the better buy if your looking for value for money, bigger tin and IIRC was voted DW's Product of the year for 2009 or 2010..............

All of the above are easy to apply and work with the 'less is more' theory also being easy to use on wheels as a great sealant............... ;)

i already use AG EGP as a sealent thats why i was looking at the colly 476s but then i saw the reviews on the fk1000p.

what would be best

AG Ultra Deep Shine

AG EGP

Colly 476s

or

AG Ultra Deep Shine

AG EGP

FK1000p

When i've got some more cash think i'll have a go with

Poorboys Black Hole

Fk1000p

what about colly 845? ;)

Pastes go further

Where can you get FK1000P as places I looked at seem to be sold out?

Also how do you apply this to a car? Do you need anything special?

Offers similar protection levels but was supposed to be used on lighter coloured motors, just sold some myself, good stuff.........

Serious Performance are the usual people to sell it but there seems to be a bit of a shortage at the moment............... :S

Nothing special required, just apply, leave to cure and then buff off...........

As Baker says, I've seen great durability with 915 which I wasn't expecting, given the higher carnuba content. Thought it would great broken down much more quickly. But there was still good beading to be had after 6 months

Key there is preparation I feel, and what state the paint is in when it's applied. In the example I refer to the car had been through several polish stages by machine, then a sealant coat. There was then a nice, clean and consistent base for the 915 to adhere to.

I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them to answer the question, although I would like the try some 1000 to see what all the fuss is about. That means buying yet more detailing products though and I still have more than enough good wax choices. This will therefore result in me being seriously wounded by SWMBO I fear!

Cheers,

Steve

I have used Collinite for years. You cant go wrong

BUT for the ultimate in durability and beading qualities....

Bilt Hamber Finis Wax...is bloody superb...It actually shocked me how good it is!!!

Flipping heck Chris, how can you comment on durability if you have not long applied it.......................... ;)

iv got 915 and its a PITA to apply being a hard wax, but lasts once its on

^^^ I find dampning the aplicator pad makes it easier to apply.

Collinite should be OK to apply but works best when applied as a very fine layer, less is more, if it's laid on thick then it will be tough to remove............

iv learnt the hard way :( lol

Although as mentioned, i find a quick squirt of quick detailer on the pad helps

also tried applying the wax using fingertips
