Felicia SLXi/aircon questions

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have a Felicia with aircon, or access to one, or even pictures of the blower housing with more detail than the VAG parts diagram? I'm trying to figure out why the actuator for my recirculation flap keeps popping off - it does look like something might be missing, perhaps some kind of retaining clip, but it was like that when I got it so I don't know for sure. Annoyingly the whole blower/heater housing and flap mechanisms are completely different on an A/C model compared to standard, so it's kind of hard to find anything to compare to.

Cheers Tom, would be much appreciated if you're going there anyway - I wouldn't want to make you go out of your way, it's not that important. Here's what mine looks like when put back in place:

As it is, the lever from the actuator (bottom right) just works its way sideways along the clip 'til it pops off the end. I can't see why the clip would be so much wider than the end of the actuator and allow it to move like that for no good reason, hence the assumption that something must be missing. I could easily bodge a solution (cable tie, methinks), but I'd like to know how it should be, especially given that I don't even know for sure that what I have is put together correctly.

If only I could go and look at it myself - I still miss living in Southsea :'(

While I'm at it, this bracket that holds the connectors for the starter motor and aircon compressor wiring seems rather out of place dangling loosely off the starter motor mounting stud here:

It'd be nice to know where and how this guy should really be mounted, cause I'm certain it's not right as is. Whoever's been in here before me has certainly not left the wiring in the nice organised state it left the factory in

Another one that I don't really expect anyone to know but I might as well throw it out there (I'm pretty sure this only applies to 1.6 engines with both PAS and aircon fitted):

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the sump off without dismantling the PAS pump? Some numpty designer decided to route one of the metal pipes round the end of the sump directly under the bolt heads - It looks like there's enough room to get a ball-end hex bit in there to loosen the bolts, but I can't tell if there's enough clearance to get them out. I know I could just find this out the hard way, but I always prefer to have some idea of how big a job it'll be beforehand if possible.
