Springs

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Just got my Fabia VRS back from a service and have been told the offside front spring is broken and needs replacing ASAP. Have been quoted 150 quid replaced. My question is, how much more would it cost to have the car on lowered springs, and which springs would the board recommend?

Depends how the rear springs are on a fabia. If the are attatched to the shock the a bit more than if not. It won't cost alot if they are already replacing the spring in one. Just labour charges taking the shock out etc. Best bet is calling them and asking. Probably would be simple enough to do yourself though

You should only ever replace springs in pairs, but I hope GBP150 includes fitting! All springs are separate from the dampers, so they choice is pretty much yours!

FWIW, I think there's at least one set of second-hand vRS springs for sale on here, but spending a bit more to get lower springs can help the handling. If you go down that route, you'll have to tell your insurance company, of course...

Yeah 150 is fitting as well, for a pair. Been looking at coilovers too, either AP's or Weitec Hicon GTs, but not sure if I want to go that far, don't know if I will definitely be keeping the car long term.

Just get it done there then, £150 is good for a set fitted, no point spending money on something your not going to keep long

Eibach Pro Springs on Ebay for 145.00 pound and will drop your car 25mm. Front & Back. May as well pay a little extra for delivery and find some one cheaper to fit them.

i would lower while you have the chance to be honest. it doesnt take that much time to replace all 4 springs seen as it is a garage that does servicing and MOT. As mentioned you should replace springs in pairs, you may be better just doing it all while your at it, and having a better handling car, as well as better looking and on good new springs :) and 150 for some springs isnt too much even if you dont keep long term.

Im sure you will make the right choice
