Bosch aerowiper retro fit issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

Following a recommendation on this site I purchased a set of wipers from autobulbsdirect.com sized at 21/19". Having just fitted them to my standard wiper arms I have found that the drivers side wiper is fouling on the body at maximum swing.

Any ideas are much appreciated; currently I'll return them and retro fit new arms aswell.

Swap them around and put the short on on the drivers side

Tried that, the 21in fouls the other side.

Strangely my ordinary wipers court the edge in high winds, despite telling the dealer 3 times to fix it, they didn't. The Bosch Aero ones solved the problem.

The only fix would be to carefully remove the arm and rotate it down a spline or two. Soak the shaft with with WD-40 as the arm is prone to seizing, then snapping when removing.

Yup, what Jim said...

foey had the same trouble with one of his

standard blades except it was hitting at the bottom

Point to remember It's a tapered spline so it may be a sod to remove without a

puller type device. It's do able without one but safer with. WD40 will help.

Get the position on the spline right before you fully re-tighten the nut

as you look ditectly at the spline you need to adjust a couple of notches in a clockwise

direction in order to lower the action of the offending arm.

Ideally this job should be done with the wipers in the rest position.

A sod indeed. After some bloody knuckles I failed to get it off! I think I'll put up with it for now and get it fixed at its service in a few months. Thanks for the replies but it seems to be quite attached to it's shaft.

give it a good soak in wd40/gt85 or similar and leave it for half a day then try again might free it up a bit

Loosen the nut (but do not remove completely), lift the arm up so that it is at 90 degrees to the screen and then rock the arm from side to side. You should find that doing that for a while will release the arm from the tapered splines. Always works for me and I've never needed to use a puller.

Well it took a week but I have succeeded. A huge dose of wd-40 (most seems to be in the vents now) I got out off and adjusted it. All I would add to the above is that you need to compress the wiper arm into the screen in order to get it to pull off straight.
