Key and alarm

Featured Replies

The batteries are dead in both fobs, is it a simple case of swapping batteries or will it need coded or whatever again??

Also, when i open the car and put key in ignition, turn the key to start it the alarm goes off for one second, what would cause this??

cheers

Pretty sure it'll just be the batteries, although to recode the remote section is totally free.

See http://www.fabia-vrs...nfo/key-coding/ and check the 'Procedure For Matching Remote Key Fobs To The Car' and 'Procedure For Changing Key Fob Batteries'.

If the car alarm isn't disabled when unlocking, which the key in the lock won't do, the alarm will sound. It's then disabled when the key is in the ignition. Just a fail safe if you will for cases such as yours, where you own the car, but can't disable the alarm.

Why it keeps re-enabling I dunno, assuming you use the key in the door to lock it again. Might be worth locking the car, then locking it again. The LED should go out, although deadlocks etc will be disengauged, although it may stop the alarm issue.

HTH,

Joe.

Cheers for the link, i'll replace the batteries and see what happens...

So if i open the car by putting the key into the door it won't deactivate the alarm, the last owner said i had 30 secs before the alarm went off!! so if i replace the batteries and use remote it'll unlock and disable the alarm??

cheers

Only do ONE FOB first then try DO NOT DO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME (fail safe)
