gear lever in neutral

Featured Replies

Finally got the felly on the road -and after sitting for a month or so , it started up ok . I'm not using it yet ,as daughter is carless .Her one slight complaint is gear lever . She has problems working out where third is ,as there seems to be no real "centralisation" of the lever to the normal third/fourth area .Had a look on the diagrams posted on another post, but can't see any sign of where the springing would be .Anyone help ?/got an easy fix ?

( What I'm after is where what gives lever bias to return to 3/4th position )

could this possibly be down to a worn linkage not giving the support that it should?

Possibly -though she hasn't noticed any sloppiness ,just no desire for the lever to return to the centre position .Haven't driven the car myself ,but the gears feel crisp enough engaging with engine off .

the return spring in the gear lever housing has probably snapped or popped out

From the feel - that sounds a likely candidate - easy to get at ?

Ah ,well - she'll have to learn to judge where the gears are - part of her car education .
