'02 Octavia II alternator belt housing

Featured Replies

Howyez...

I bought a gorgeous Octy a couple of years ago. Got her in York, with a full service history and low miles. Brought it home to Dublin where she's been a joy to drive. Until now! ... :'(

Alternator belt broke the other day. Simple enough job, I thought.

On further investigation... the belt broke because the belt tensioner broke off with some of the aluminium housing still attached. (I'm actually blessed that the housing piece didn't go up toward the timing belt for the big bang!) The alternator, power steering unit and air con are attached to this housing.

What had happened was that the alternator clutch gave up and this stressed the belt and tensioner and hence the ouch!

OK... still doesn't seem disastrous, I thought, I can still get a housing off a scrapped car, so long as it wasn't crashed in the front...

BUT here's my HUGE problem...

She's a "Lauren + Klement" and there's feck all of them here in Ireland with that spec. Standard Irish models that have air con have a completely different housing.

If any Skoda drivers have encountered this I'd really appreciate feedback...

AND... would any of you fine ladies and gentlemen know a number for a skoda breakers yard in England who post/ship secondhand parts???

Thanks for taking the time to read through my mini disaster novel...
