VAG COM HEX-CAN Lead on eBay

Featured Replies

Has anybody used a lead such as this from eBay?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150497208866

From reading the advert, the seller states:

Supports Measuring Values, Output Tests, and Adaptations on control modules using the new UDS/ODX/ASAM protocol.

Being new to VAG cars myself, I'm not too sure if this means it can be used to change information, although I'd guess that it does. The seller also appears to have sold around 30 of these leads and only received positive feedback on them.

The advert also states that the cable is 'registered/activated, with access to all features'. Does this mean it could be used with any new versions of VCDS that come out, or would the buyer be stuck using the version 9 it comes with on a CD?

I'm also interested in any other opinions you have of it, or any other problems you can forsee that the purchaser may unwittingly come across.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom this has nothing at all to do with VCDS, so I doubt very much you will ever get an update of the software.

At best it will be a different system similar to Ross-Tech's VCDS, at worst it will be a clone.

The item has been removed. ;) Usually that happens for a reason, in this case. Illegal copy, no updates, no support. But it does come with trouble though. LOL
