Improving the handling on a vRS

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new!

I've been lurking for a week or so reading up on bits and pieces for my next car, a Fabia vRS that I'm due to pick up shortly. Its already had a lot of the basics sorted, its been remapped, Ibiza air filter/box, decent exhaust and now I'm looking at sorting the handling (brakes will be switched to TT ones when the discs next need replacing).

I've also had the car checked over by a mechanic and it seems that I need to get the front anti roll bar & bushed replaced so I've budgeted money for this to get this done but I'm unsure if its worth paying extra for an aftermarket one or worth sticking with a new stock one? I'm also unsure as to which set of bushes to get to go with the anti roll bar as I've read that the standard ones tend to wear out quickly?

Also is it worth fitting the rear anti roll bar at the same time?

Finally what is the best combo for replacing the suspension? As that will be the next thing that needs replacing. I don't want to spend hundreds but I do want something that will make a big difference over the standard suspension as its far too soft for how I drive to work.

Thanks in advance!

Hello and Welcome to Briskoda. :hi:

I hope when the bushes are changed they will be polyurethane (Powerflex) ones. I can't comment on RARB, but it seams a good idea.

As for suspension, Koni FSD shocks are a popular mod, plus if you want it a bit lower Eibach springs. The alternative , of course, is coil-overs.

Mine is now 6.5 years old, done 90k miles and is still on the original arb bushes. For me I'd just replace them with oem skoda parts.

How's your console bushes/rear wishbone bushes? These are a week link and recommend upgrade are the ones from an Ibiza cupra. Cheap parts but expect a couple of hours labour.

A simple cheap suspension upgrade to help reduce body roll is a rear anti roll bar. It also helps improve front end grip by reducing front weight distribution but increases it at the rear. After that your probably after a good damper setup.

Edit. I've had the eibach damper/spring setup. Response was greatly improved however I didn't think the dampers were stiff enough to get rid of the crashy ride.

It sure is integrated so no way of replacing. So only way of stiffening it up is to fit an aftermarket one from the likes of jabber and whiteline.

You need a decent set of coilovers, RARB, front strutbrace and that will see you some good handling
