Anybody out there have any ideas please...

Yea i would like to know about the drivers door card please aswell. I can see that the handle has to be removed but is it the top or the bottom that unclips as dont wanna leave marks on the plastics?

Passenger one is simple enough, just prise the door handle cover off gently and will reveal 2 x 30 torx to remove. There are 2 x think 15 torx at the bottom of the door and then its all clips to pull the card off. Dont be scared to give the card a decent yank to remove and your a lucky oy if at least one of the clips doesnt break (so always worth grabbing a few from skoda if u know they are coming off).

DRIVERS SIDE DOOR MIRROR REPLACEMENT MANUAL TYPE ON A 2004 OCTAVIA ESTATE DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE BEST WAY TO DO THIS

I recommend booking the car into a skoda garage because this job can be bothersome to the inexperienced, to access the glass you may have to remove the window regulator and getting the windows back in can be very difficult on new octavias, they work on 2 plastic plugs that you hammer into the windows. My advice would be to book it in for what it'll cost.

On an A5 octavia the proceedure is as follow - (Please forgive me i'm writing this off of the top of my head)

Drivers side door -

1) Remove the 2x T15 screws securing the door at the very bottom of the doorcard.

2) Remove the switchpack for the electric windows, behind it will be 2 or 3 T30 screws or crosshead screws.

3) Remove the small speaker that has the lock and unlock button on it and remove the T15 screw there.

4) Remove the light at the bottom of the door where the speaker is.

5) Get something behind the corners of the doorcard and start popping the clips out.

Once the doorcard is off remove the cable from the door handle carefully, it's a plastic tube with a plastic cap with the cable coming out of the end, pull the plastic mechanism back and unhook. Also disconnect all block connectors and put the door card somewhere safe.

As for the passenger side and rears -

Follow the same procedure but the 2x crosshead screws or T30's will be behind the curved handle.
