Boost leak and MOT

Featured Replies

Got a boost leak so shes firing out coal like a ww2 tank

Now i can unplug the map sensor and put it into 'limp' mode!!

Now i know its not ideal but i cant afford the replacement pipe mot and tax!

So will it pass in limp mode?

No turbo spool = no smoke??

Yeah - That's my "last resort" too. Car will pass MOT emissions easily then. Just replace plug after and clear fault codes. Driving it in limp mode makes you appreciate power on boost more too. ;)

Is the pipe damaged use some duct tape? wrap it around the the pipe a number of times to stop the boost leak.

If the boost leak if from the pipe ends use cable ties to keep both pipes tightly fitted.

i've tried tape before on boost leaks, the pressure / heat just tears right through it.....

boost leak is from my top pipe (ibiza pd160 pipe)

its been chaffing on my crash bar

I've tried to plastic weld it back together but its just split again under pressure

80/90% of the performance is still there but has a slight smoke cloud

a new pipe is required but finances do not permit this month :)

The intake pipe is damaged? I never knew that would cause the car to smoke excessive. B&Q sell a foil pipe it is durable if you know your pipe sizes etc it can be had for cheap thats if you can spare a few £.

Otherwise disconnect the Airbox sensor would cause it to go into limp mode should do the trick. :wonder:

No no

Im running the ibiza pd160 fmic, and utilising the top intercooler pipe which has chaffed on my crash bar so im loosing turbo boost :)

put the old 130 pipe back on

Oh ok... it looks like we need to open a briskoda mot charity times are hard :o

put the old 130 pipe back on

Completely different :)

Pd130 uses smic pd160 fmic

is this the skanky black plastic jobby, where the map sensor goes..?

Oh brilliant!

Ill pm you when i get home!

Cheers

and if its anywhere near the crash bar again, put something on it to not allow it to rub into the pipe itself. ;) A few layers of duck tape (on the crashbar edge) should prevent it wearing through again. :)
