T-Mobile + HTC Desire

Featured Replies

About 2 months ago - my 18 month contract with T-Mobile ran out, It was on Flext 35 with a T-Mobile G1 handset (so getting on a bit now, but trusty none-the-less). So I did some shopping around (was looking at a HTC Desire) and finally went back to T-Mobile asking them if thry could beat a best offer..

They could... "Whoopie" I thought, don't need to mess about (and it's a decent deal). So I ordered the handset and asked if they could get it in black and not brown (Well the Octy is black so might as well have a matching phone:giggle:), No problem.. "Will take a couple of weeks to get the Black HTC Desire in stock" the bloke on the phone told me.

So I waited.. and waited and waited... A month later - still no phone, so I rang them back up to be told "Don't worry Sir, that handset is in high demand and you are top of our list when we get stock in - another week."

So i waited.. and still nothing.. I rang them back and was told that the handset was coming in - HTC weren't making them fast enough, they will let me know when the handsets arrive via SMS / Phone / Email..

So whilst logging into T-Mobile to check my bill, I thought I'd check out their sales website - sure enough they are still selling the HTC Desire, when a chat window popped up asking if I want to speak to a sales advisor.. why not I thought :wonder:

I might have not mentioned to him that I was already a customer (I guess it slipped my mind), but he told me he could get me the HTC Desire (in black) in 2 weeks GUARANTEED!

So i rang Upgrades and asked them why sales could guarantee a handset in 2 weeks, but upgrades for existing customer were taking an awful lot longer.. Stunned silence.. She couldn't say why as Sales was a different dept, but not to worry I'm top of the bloody tree now as far as handsets go.

Last friday I got an SMS from T-Mobile saying "Thanks for ordering your handset with us.. Enjoy" - FANTASTIC I thought.. will be here by Monday / Tues..

Yesterday I had to phone them asking "Where is my handset?" - explaining I had an SMS.. To my shock the SMS was sent out by a manager (name witheld to protect him from me I guess) but it looks like he's not only sent out an SMS, he never actually put my order through.

The nice lady in CS took my details and told me she'd escalate this issue, and I should use the website to send in a complaint..

After filling out a form online, I got an automated email response from the "Customer Loyalty Team".. Which is laughable..

My partner and I spend well over £150 a month with T-Mobile (we both have phone and data contracrs) and they can't even be a**ed to find me a handset...

I understand HTC had issues with screens, but come on - at least process the order..

I have given them one more chance to sort it out - then I'm off and making a fuss as I do so.. If anyone else has issues with mobile suppliers getting them HTC Desires, or with T-Mobile - would love to hear about it.. I can't be the only one.. Can I?

similar situation to, 18month on G1 ran out, desire took three weeks from me wanting it to get to my door.

worth it though, it puts the G1 to shame!

3 weeks - you were lucky.. I've been waiting 2 months..

I know the handset is the mutts, but T-Mobile are taking the **** a little with the delay and lack of communication.

Sadly T-mobiles treatment of existing customers wanting the desire has been shocking since launch.

Like myself who ordered, or tried to, got told no stock. Some twonk I know rang up and got theirs next day.

Now the phone is still in short supply due to high demand, and this has meant they've had to drop amoled for slcd to meet demand (Orange's waiting list was over 4 weeks at one point), but that doesnt excuse tmobile's treatment of you.

When I upgraded my T-Mobile contract a while ago, it went through without a hitch. I had to wait a couple of weeks for the in demand handset, but they did send it on time as expected. At the same time I reduced my contract as well, and that also went through without problems.

My Compact V handset (HTC TD2) has been faultless since then, and I dont really regret updating at all.
