windscreen cleaning

Featured Replies

I want to clean my screen to apply some aquapel but I can't get rid of a "pattern" on the glass. It's not a hazing pattern but as though there's a coating on the glass. Its clearest on the edge of the wiper swept area but you get it all over the car.

I've tried the usual suspects - windowlene, AG fast glass, hot soapy water, flash cleaner, etc, etc but I can still see difference in the screen despite it being clean.

Can you get rid of it or can you just apply your rain repellent over it without any problems.

Hmm, sounds a little odd. I've used AG Glass Polish on stuff like this in the past, often applied with a soft or medium pad on my PorterCable if hand application didn't shift it.

I've also used 'standard' car polishes on glass before, with good effect. For me that's generally Menzerna Intensive Polish or Final Polish. I appreciate that's a bit heavy-handed though, if you don't have these products already :)

Cheers,

Steve

Will that just make it sticky?

Many years ago I had a driving job going from The Bottom of Ireland ( Cork )

to Scotland on a regular basis...My windscreen went to the stage of looking like somebody had rubbed Vaseline on it.

Spoke to a buddy and he suggested Coke... Like you I thought "no way"

Next time it was raining he got a bottle of coke anf poured it across the windscreen from one side to the other,

Let it pour down, Used the wipers,, Repeated this 3 times.. I waqs astonished at the result.. It looked as though somebody had actually removed the glass.

Mind you,, You will have to was the car afterwards..emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Try it.

Several others have and now agree with me..

I had that shi_ on all my windows, it was wax from the car shampoo that i was using, i used the wifes Mr Muscle glass cleaner,i had to clean each window four times before the shi _ was gone.

Failing that the halfords intensive glass cutter is pretty good.

Yep, imagine that's similar in makeup to the AG Glass Polish I've used before.

Indeed it is, but a little more `hard core` so to speak.

It took off some marks left behind by the AG polish when I used them back to back, pre aquapel.
