Cost of a basic stage 1 tune?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm a new Fabia VRS owner and wish to up the power and torque a bit - not to crazy levels as I wish to retain the standard clutch/drivetrain etc. How much did you pay for your remap/tune and who did it/where are they?

Thanks :)

P torque, Birmingham way I think, £225 for map inc rolling road. 177bhp with 305ftlb

Unit 18/Oscari custom map £250

Trying to get a group buy off the ground with performance torque.

Put your name down mate

£250 Would get you a nice remap to 170bhp big increase of torque

Also if your going for standard clutch still, get the torque turned down a little, helps it survive a bit longer.

Thanks for the responses all - I am merely trying to gauge the value of my local suppliers - I have Total VAG offering Custom Code remaps for £300 aqnd VAG Tech offering Revo Technik and Motech - but price is yet to be confirmed.

Thank you for the heads up regarding a group buy - the facility is a little further than I want to go - the upgrade has to be 'under the radar' if you know what I mean ;)

It sounds like you're Milton Keynes way - if so then I would get myself out to Welliongborough for the Richard Washbrook/Oscarli remap that Unit 18 offer. £250 and it's a bargain. P-torque do before and after rolling road runs as well though - and that's very nice as you can see what extra you have.

Almost all remaps can be loaded on and removed so you can test it and see if you like it. Some are very linear (like a petrol car), some give you a huge kick in the back (and destroy your clutch). The best remappers will offer you something that suits your driving style.

The Shark Performance map is famous for being smooth and clutch friendly while the Superchips one feels like you're driving a Lamborghini until the clutch fails.

I have to be honest, I've driven about 10 different remappers cars and I've never actually had mine done as I simply don't think it needs any more power. Better brakes and handling - sure, I've done those, but I always felt I could get myself into trouble quite fast enough with the standard power.

i was always under the impression the superchips one was clutch friendly ?

Thanks all. I have been informed that saying 'under the radar' may be frowned upon in the forum. So it's not misunderstood I meant this in relation to my wife finding out about the cost. Nothing more.

It's not illegal. It's frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane. Maybe after 9/11, where everybody got so sensitive. Thanks a lot, bin Laden  (sorry just watching the hangover and I couldn't resist)

I went to p-torque on the group buy. £210 all in. Top bloke and top service. I made 173bhp and 300.01 ft/lbs with a PD160 and green cotton panel filter. Been on 20k. No problems what so ever.
