Faults with 1.4L TSI - DSG !

Featured Replies

I have now had my 1.4l TSI - DSG for about 3months and must say that I'm very pleased with it.

I ordered Candy White and do not in any way regret this. This colour makes the car stand out and look very distinguished

and many people are surprised to find out that its a Skoda. Also the car is very easy to keep clean and doesn't show the dirt or marks.

But the real reason for posting is to enquire from members how their similar cars' are behaving.

Are you satisfied with your choice, have they been any faults / niggles / warranty claims etc. etc.

It could prove useful to all members, of similar type cars, if a central record could be kept. This would benefit users when trying to check their own vehicles for similar faults, and assist in dealing with the main service dealer.

Mine is now 15 months old and no complaints so far - great engine and transmission. It is Arctic Green and no regrets on that front, looks good and is well tempered regarding dust and dirt showing. The only upgrade I've undertaken is the Onyx interior being changed for black leather. That, IMO, has given the cabin a real quality uplift. I do feel a little smug with my power fold door mirrors and full sized matching alloy spare wheel, both standard equipment - ah, those good old days!

Interesting that you changed the interior for Black Leather.

Did you change every thing as if it was supplied ex-factory with leather or just the front/rear seats.

Would be interested to hear from you how this was done and what were the order of costs and time.

The good old days - not all of them were so.

Quote from previous posting-

Remember going back to the good old days when the choke was removed and people could just not accept it.

The old school also liked to have adjustable tappets, top up batteries, contact beakers, brake adjusters and starting handles etc etc.

I can remember when windscreen washers were first introduced and many people thought them to be totally unnecessary.

When I referred to the good old days, it was meant in the context of the facelifted Octavia's introduction. :giggle:

Recalling my father's first brand new car, the heater was optional! How many travel rugs do you see today?

Regarding my leather interior, it was carried out by Seat Surgeons in York and the seats, arm/head rests & door cards were replaced with black nappa leather with black stitching. Of course there are lots of choices with leather grades, shades and stitching.

Once I had decided on my choices, it was made up and fitted about 2 weeks later. I arrived at about 8.30am, spent some time exploring York (very nice) and collected the car around 3pm - job done. It was OEM style in their smooth best grade nappa and cost £1200 all in.

And very nice too.

Having looked at the site it appears that the quality and selections together with the one off attention is much

better value that the product offered by Skoda for £1435.(Includes £260.00 heated front seats)

I assume you still have the original covers/cards etc. and these must have a market value to some one.

Would you still have the same pattern/colour again?

I will give serious consideration to having some thing like this done when things recover.

You mentioned travel rugs. I carried one of these on the back seat for many years as my mother always used to like to have her legs covered even in summer time.

Proved handy many 'er time for the odd park up.

One of the good old timers that I thought was excellent was on a Hillman Minx - the central horn button was like a rocker switch

one side was quite (single horn) and the other loud (both horns}

What type of remap are you considering. Power or economy.

Who do you have in mind for these updates.

When I get the remap done my main priority will be to increase mid-range power for the type of driving I do.My days of attending track days are long passed,I have just got my bus pass last week!!!!

Re: updates,I would suggest that when any of us get a mod. done we post accordingly with comments about it whether it has been advantageous or not???

Mine had a bit of an issue tonight. Reversing uphill to my parking space, it suddenly didn't want to know and kept going forwards. Luckily nothing in front and so we rolled into the road, safely. Engaged 1st gear and set off to see if it would clear up and it stuck in 1st. Switched it off and on again, set off down the road and all as it should be. Very odd. Never happened before.
