will mobil1 10W-30 damage my engine?

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I got my fabia on august (used) and today I changed the oil. I put mobil 1 10W-30 full syntetic on it.

My mechanic told me that this oil is very thin and that my engine may be damaged. He told me that next time I should get 10W-40 instead.

Now, I'm scared. Can my engine be damaged by this oil?

I live on the caribbean, and our temperatures are 23C to 36C the entire year. Also, I don't drive fast. I don't exceed 3500RPM. The car has 82,000KM

Fine! Im running 10w30

Aslong as it meets 505.01 spec its alright

I would also think it will be better for the turbo as it heats up quicker and is thinner

My fabia does not have a turbo, also, its not diesel.

How do I know if this oil meets the correct specs for my car? The manual does not say anything about XXW-XX specs... Just VW500 00 and WV502 00.

The oil label does not say anything about VW specs

Hi!

That's my oil.

On the data sheet of this oil there is no word about vw specs. Do you think its ok anyway? Here in the dominican republic there is not a lot to choose from.

Im going on about a turbo diesel bud!

That oil is fine for your car wouuldnt worry about it

Perfectly good oil for that engine

Thanks a lot guys. I was very worried about that.

That oil is not ACEA A3, but A1/A5 and is low HTHS, which makes it better for Ford Zetec engines than VW. That's why is not recommended by VW. It is better probably if you put any semi-synthetic 10w-40 or synthetic 5w-30 aproved by VW.
