Tuning Box Warning

Featured Replies

Typical, my first ever posting on this forum and it's a warning. I have a Fabia II 1.4 Tdi. Bought a tuning box on e-bay from celox_performance. After a few weeks use the engine management light has came on.

Turns out the fuel temperature sensor has gone faulty. Local dealer suspects and agrees with the AA patrol that the box was the cause. After contacting the seller i am told this device can bring on the warning light (not told this at point of sale). To rectify the warning light its an hours labour plus parts. Can i ask all who are thinking about this item to consider my situation as i would hate to have someone else get their fingers burnt as i have been. If anyone out there can recommend a good reliable tuning box, please let me know.

No expert but I've always been lead to believe plug in boxes should be avoided as they generally just fool the ecu into dumping more fuel into the engine, as I suspect in your case. If you wish to up the bhp + torque then a proper map from a reputable firm should be your way forward.

Regards,

TP

oh by the way welcome to the forum :)

Welcome Wheelspins!

Sorry to hear about your problem. Yes...the box is the cause. They are not the best way to go as the guys are saying. But as you say, no-one tells you that at point of sale...I wonder why! At least you are sorted now. Geta remap arranged. They are not expensive and generally give much better performance too. Keep posting!;)

Welcome to Briskoda,

Totally agree with what has been said some tuning boxes can be a nightmare and I would recommend a re-map from a reputable company.
