Dipstick carrier broke :0(

Featured Replies

Hey guys, whilst checking my oil level the other day i noticed that the carrier for the dipstick is broken. The orange plastic tube, roughly about 10" down from the top, been told that it is only plastic half way then metal the rest.

Is that true? also does it simply just click on if it is plastic, many many tubes in the way.

Yes this is true. Be very careful when removing it that no bits of plastic fall into the metal tube.

These are notoriously easy to break and it's a common thing.

+1 there

The dipstick tube gets brittle with age from the heat of the engine, and any slight movement will cause it to break(normally when removing the metal bracket attached to the inlet manifold)

When you fit the new one you have to push it down quite hard for it to engage into the metal shaft.

Umm is this part number for the actual dipstick itself or the dipstick funnel?

Is this the same for a 1.6? I think mine is leaking slightly. I cleaned it yet its already gone black!! :giggle:
