Skoda Octavia Estate 1.9 PD Elegance Manual 56 Plate

Hi there, i've just had some work done on my gear box with a syncro... now for some reason the car thinks it's in reverse all the time... reverse light is on constantly, parking sensors are constantly on and beeping.

The car drives fine so I guess there is a fauty sensor somewhere?

Anyone come accross this before and any ideas what may be causing the fault.

Any help will be much appreciated. :S

There will be a switch somewhere between the gear lever and the gearbox that has either been damaged or not reconnected correctly.

I don't know where it is exactly on the Octavia but on my old car it was at the base of the gear lever under the centre console. When the lever was put into the reverse position it pushed the switch which turned on the reverse lights.

This might be similar on the Octavia but it could be anywhere along the linkage.

I'd take it back to the garage that did the work and complain. I'm suprised this wasn't checked / noticed before releasing the car back to you.

Many thanks Silver... I've booked it into our local Skoda garage asap as I can't stand the constant beeping and people flashing me to tell me my reverse lights are on. Will report back after it's been fixed.

All sorted by Winners in Cinderford whilst I waited. Faulty reverse switch in gear mechanism replaced under warranty. Excellent service again!
