There's a step by step guide in the mag (takes about 5 mins to do at most). And they have the displacement map used available as a free download from their website.

Not bad for a very quick tutorial.

Presume it's just a question of copy, flip and make it a watermark?

Just about to head off to bed as i've been up since 2pm yesterday :S (Last night shift last night). I'll put the process up tomorrow if i get chance. It's about 6 steps i think.

Ok guys here we go. The step by step guide to adding a lake to your landscapes...... As per the October 2010 Issue of Digital SLR Photography Magazine.

1. Once you have saved the attached file from this post select your chosen landscape image and open it in photoshop.

2. Go to Image>Canvas Size. Ensure Relative is ticked and the size field is set to Percent, then click on the top centre box, and enter 0 in Width and 100 in height.

3. Select the top half of the image area (i.e. the whole of your original image) using the Rectangular Marquee. Click Layer>New>Layer via Copy. Then click Edit>Transform>Flip Vertical, then move the flipped image under the original, using the move tool.

4.Click the Lock Transparent Pixels icon in the layers palette, to keep the following blur within the image area. Now click Filter>Blur>Motion Blur, select an angle of 90° and about 15 pixels, and then click OK.

5. Select the reflection area using a Rectangular Marquee and click Filter>Distort>Displace. Keep the horizontal amount to half of the vertical option (I think i used 5 / 10 in mine). Click Stretch to Fit & Repeat Edge Pixels options then OK.

6. You'll now be prompted to select your displacement map, so find the file you saved from this post and click Open. The water ripple effect will appear, but if you want to alter the intesity, go back and adjust the horizontal/vertical amounts in Step 5.

Cheers

Dave.
