52 mpg over 100 miles

Featured Replies

Guys, don't know how much do you get out of your VRS, but mine gave an astounding 52 mpg from Swindon to Watford. I must admit that I drove in an eco-friendly manner hovering around 55-60 mph most of the times. But that doesn't mean I didn't have the ocassional sprint at 80mph+.

I just switched to Shell VPower recently and I couldn't be happier!!

btw, my VRS is remapped to give 210bhp.

Do you think this kind of mpg is common?

It's possible I guess..............................Although I have never done it :giggle:

erm, I only managed that kind of mpg once lol, straight after a remap on the trip home lol, then the car never started again.

That is more diesel territory there lol

dont expect it on a regular basis.

Depends if you had just reset the avg mpg counter or not!

If you reset the avg mpg counter and then take it for a steady drive it will show massively high mpg figures for a while until it settles down.

52.5 mpg Essex to Cornwall using Esso juice. Average speed 60mph, non motorways.

I did Salisbury to Silverstone circuit (just over 100 miles) the other day, and averaged exactly 40mpg by the time I got there.

I blame all the spanners on the A34 who just sit in lane two and block the road. I was trapped doing 60-70mph most of the way, with only a few blasts when I occasionally broke free. Getting a high average mpg is dirty, and not something I want!

You will be glad to hear that once the traffic died down, I topped her up and reset the trip, then headed up North. Managed to get a stonking 29mpg average from Silverstone to Huddersfield (135miles)! I did have the warp drive engaged though.

Basically a damn good engine this.

Humph,it sure puts my 38.7mpg(which I thought was good) to shame.

52 mpg.......from a 1.8 petrol turbo....really? the best i ever got from my mk1 vrs was 41mpg & that was driving like a proper grandad. :)

A month ago my VRS did 38mpg Cardiff to Looe in Cornwall 75/80 all the way. Thought that was pretty good for a remapped car 4 up with luggage.

My vRS averages around 38MPG on my weekly work runs (25 miles per way) and i usuall get 350 - 400 mile per full tank. best i ever had was 53 mpg on a 200 mile run sticking at 55 - 60 mph. Cracking cars!

I managed to find a picture of you on the way ;)

MPG is for gays :finger:

lol 52....perhaps you should have a diesel...might set a world record

MPG is for gays :finger:

It's true and sometimes I'm a homo.

52 is MFA talk. My personal best is 42 (verified on fill up), but the MFA called it 46.7. That was over 300m from Sussex home along the 25, 3, 303 and 30.

Sitting at 55/60 in a VRS , no thanks spend all week doing that for work, on a run usually set the cruise at 3000rpm and average about 38/39mpg, everyday driving is high twenties, high teens if playing.

my mpg has got quite a bit worse since changing from my R32 reps to my TD pro race 1.2 with falken tyres? ive list 3-5 mpg between work and home, was gettin 40-43 but am lucky to get 38 now driving the same.

wierd

Managed 42mpg from Chesterfield to Portsmouth once running around 60-70 mph.

Dam boring drive being economical and won't do it again but can get around 35 often on normal motorway driving. More like mid 20's around town.

Achieved 132 mpg today, which easily trumps the paltry 52mpg.

I achieved this on the A21 between Hildenborugh and Sevenoaks along a 1 mile stretch all downhill in fifth gear. :D

That’s dam good

I have averaged 27.2 mpg over the last 1200 miles.

Never seem to get above 34mpg. Might be due to my lead foot :giggle:
