Tyre noise ....

Recommended Posts

This is official skoda info regarding Octavia tyre noise and how to solve.Below are copied extracts from skoda's direct info.Hope this helps to anyof you who had similar problems ... If your car is still under warranty it should be rectified by your dealer but if it isn't I guess it's nothing that a main wheel alignment specialist can't do ...

Technical background

These noises are caused by irregular (saw-tooth like) wear of the tyre cover of the rear axle tyres.

Involved are mostly the tyres 225/45/R17 manufactured by the companies Bridgestone and Dunlop.

Production change

The camber values of the rear wheel are adjusted at the upper limit of the prescribed tolerance.

Measure

This saw-tooth like wear of the tyres can be prevented by changing the wheel alignment on the rear axle to these values:

Wheel camber on 2UA, 2UC, 2UB chassis: -50‘-10‘ (max.-1°)

Wheel camber on RS chassis: -1°15‘-5‘ (max.-1°20‘)

Toe-in total: +10‘-2‘

Toe-in divided - left: +5‘

Toe-in divided - right: +5‘
