DPF regen

Featured Replies

What are the typical tell tale signs of the DF regen??

How often should it happen and whats the best thing to do when it's going on?

My car has been a bit lumpy about a week ago - spluttering when pulling up hill

it's been ok for last 200 miles and now it's been doing it again................

this is my first DPF car so excuse the silly questions!

I don't have a DPF so not sure what the symptoms are. But to regenerate it you have to drive at about 50mph in 4th gear for about 8 miles.

Try any speed over 38mph in any gear for between 5-10 minutes.

Some have commented that they have experienced mild power loss during their DPF regeneration.

To me spluttering or missing is not right and is unlikely to be the DPF.

I've had my 2008 DPF equipped Octavia for over a year now and have never noticed it regen in almost 20,000 miles...

How many miles has your 2006 vRS done?

DPF regen is only usually needed if you drive short journeys all the time.

My mate's GTTDi golf had the same symptoms as the OP and he got a light on the Dash. When he took it to VW they told him to drive in 4th at about 50mph for 8 Miles or so which is why i said it :)

On mine the regen cycle see's the engine idle speed rise to 1000 rpm. I too notice that it feels a little lumpy to drive, especially at town speeds (if you happen to been in 30/40 mph areas).

But as said above the hand boook says 60 kph or higher for around 10 mins.

This winter will see me doing a few more short trips than normal so will be giving my car to swmbo to take to work as it's 15 min down the motorway to keep the dpf happy.

car has only done 30k.

well. last night we went out so i drove for 15 miles down A19 at 70 mph in 4th gear to keep revs up.

car was ok on way out.

on way home the car was spluttering again and this time i noiticed the glow plug light came on a couple of times

from past experiance this is happens when MAF has died. What else is related to that light?

just returned from checking car with a very kind friend of mine.

VCDS plugged in.....no faults found

so we checked the DPF status.......40%. Is that good or bad?

We went out and forced a regen and got it down to 5% after it had climbed to 60%

one thing we noticed was the lumpy feel went once car was back down to 20% full.

Is the pressure sensor a bit duff and allowing the DPF to fill too much before regening itself?

Whereabouts in VCDS do you check DPF status? I'd be interested to see what mine reads at the moment

there is a code on Ross tech for access.

Follow the instructions, then go for a drive (need passenger to read the measuring blocks) EGT before turbo needs to 700 degrees for a regen.

You should see the "Lambda" percentage drop down if the regen is working.

It seemed weird, but it worked.

car is set to std at minute and very annoyingly misfiring on full throttle ! :(

will load the modified map tomorrow (with DPF tweak) and see what it's like

if still bad it's off to the dealer.

my patience is wearing ever thinner...........

Hmmmmmmmm......... may need pressure sensor.

hiya i had same thing with my 06 octiavia its the exhaust pressure sensor failing as they are fitted with the old type american made with no weather proofing so electronic part plays up, i left it and left it till it went into safe mode so i had skoda assistance call round and fitted cost £40 and never had problem since.as the new sensors have weather proofing and made in malaysia...its cheaper to replace sensor than pay over £1000 for new dpf hope this helps mate thanks.. terry
