Rear wiper developed a life of it's own

Featured Replies

Hi,

went out in my lads Furby Classic this afternoon and out the blue the rear wiper burst into life, at first just the odd random sweep but now it's happening regularly and no longer parking in the correct position. Had the rear trim panels off and cannot see anything obviously wrong and the wiring to were it enters the body-shell looks OK.

Anybody else come across this :wonder: thoughts would be appreciated.

Regards,

TP

Could be a dodgy motor. See if it does it the next time you drive as sometimes the odd electrical blip happens. Mine used to sometimes swap which window switch did which window. Not done that for some time thankfully though.

Faulty stalk / relay?

I would have someone check to see if your reverse lights come on as this would make it sweep. Just rules out a problem there.

I was going suggest the reverse lights may be earthing somewhere.

Thanks for the replies, although sadly I still could not find the issue so took it in to the garage. Appears the motors gone; they say water from the washer system has got into the electrics :wonder: Fortunately the warranty my lad took out with the car when he bought it appears to cover the cost :)

Common fault (the water thing). The water expands in the winter as it freezes, and pops the connectors in the boot lid off. Then when you use the wipers, you just wash the eletrics. Does it in the engine bay, by the bulkhead, and by the front passenger wheel, just inside the arch liner for reference. Does it in my Polo too apparantly.

Least the warranty covers it.

In the coming months keep the concentration of screenwash strong to

prevent freezing.

When I got mine rear washers didn't work . Skoda place pit pipe back on and advised to use 50% mix . Never had any more problems in five years .Original problem was due to bottle containing nearly pure water .

Last year 50% was enough to stop problems ,but not enough to let wash flow freely . In the end , I used 100% Asda blue screen wash .
