Check Engie Light ON!

Featured Replies

Here we go the story goes as follows... the car is driving great since service, diesel geek quickshift linkage, cotton green filter and throttle body clean. I gave it some beans at the lights...safe and well below speed limit! The dreaded yellow engine light came on. Car was still driving fine. So went to local freindly North Manchester mechanic who plugged in diagostic gismo and came up with the following:

P0601 INTERNAL CONTROL MODULE MEMORY CHECKSUM ERROR

He managed to reset it and the car seems to be driving fine. The question is what does that mean and is it okay to drive.

A side issue I wanted to ask I have met the mechanic before he fitted a new tyre after I punctured my one a while ago. I was talking to him about replacing the dogmount bushes and getting under the car. He offered his ramp on Sunday.

He seemed genuine but he may have just been 'being nice' if you know what I mean? My wife reckons I should just go for it if he offered without being asked. So what do you guys think?

Thanks to all the great helpful guys on this forum in advance...

P0601 nothing to worry about, a few of us have this (usually on APR maps) i had the trial map and have this code, luckily my CEL knackered so i don't have to worry about orange lights. Is yours mapped or have you had a trial map fitted at some point.

Trial map from Awesome GTI then went for the 'permanent APR Remap'. Thanks a lot for that...
