Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi

Bought myself a Skoda Superb 170TDI DSG Elegance Rosso Brunello. On the poster it really looked bright and shiny, but on some real world fotos it looks much darker.

From the dealers point of view it's too late for changing the color. So i'm wondering, is there any aftertreatment that can stir it in a slightly brighter and shiny direction?

I was thinking something like DITEC on steroids.

Without seeing what photo's you are comparing it's difficult to advise.

Personally I think the Rosso Brunello is the best colour for a Superb - even better if it has the Ivory leather, unfortunately neither colour is practical for me so I had to choose a practical colour emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Look at the photo's of mannyo's car during it's detail by Baker21 (sorry for the blatantly stolen photo's )

The colour does indeed change depending on the light, but I really don't think you will dissapointed.

There are times when I am unsure if I made the right choice. In dull light the colour looks more like dull "Maroon". As a matter of fact the V5 on my car states the colour as maroon!!.Under strong light whether in a brightly lit showroom or workshop, or sunlight the colour is fabulous.

If you are lucky enough to see a Rosso Superb coming the other way when you are driving along you will appreciate how good it looks.

Maybe it's possible to get it to a good painter that can add light shades where appropriate to relieve it of the "Maroon effect"?

What a shame that you are not enjoying it - mine is exactly the same but with ivory leather and looks wonderful - keeping it clean is a nuisance though, pity they haven't invented self cleaning cars yet..

Probably just me getting last minute nerves before the car goes into production.

I saw one tonight in some sort of brown come purple and it looked sheet imo, and they'd managed to scrape the bumper and dent the boot, and not shut the boot properly either, amusing listening to the chime all the time.

I think it depends on the Audience.. i really dont like it, and would never choose it as my own car, but that's why there is a choice of colours!

I dont know what else you can do to get the colour changed - maybe have a go with the dealer - see if they want to "Swop" you, ie using the car you've ordered as a Demo or Show-Room car, and get another one ordered for yourself - maybe see if they already have any coming in as Demo's or stock that can fit your bill (Doubt it mind...) - if they did order you another, i suppose it's another long, long wait...

Here you will find an obscene amount of pictures of polishing a rosso brunello Superb, maybe it will help to calm your nerves:-)

Rosso Brunello paint-maintenance

Anyhows, We bought a Superb sedan in metallic grey and black leather interior early 2010. We loved it at first but got bored with it quit fast. Especially the black interior became very depressing and dark, we called it the black hole. It even got dirty just as fast as the ivory interior, as everything with an other colour than black. hair, dust, sand, gravel, dandruff  shows remarkably easy on a black surface.

The metallic grey became a tadd too "shiny and flashy" in combo with the chrome-listing on the car as well. In the end it became such an nuiscance we traded it in for the Amethyst Estate 2011 with panoroof and Ivory/Ivory interior.

We dumped this one:

So the moral of this story is: You can buy a car with a colour you like and get dissapointed with it afterwards, on the other hand you can buy a car with a colourchoice that you made with some doubts but what turns out to be much better than you thought.

The rosso brunello will look good on the skoda though, no doubt. Good luck pondering this question.

I reckon the one I saw was Rosso, and it didn't look at all under street lighting, it looks the same as the one linked above by Doc, I always imagined it to look like the top pictures irl, but sadly it's too dark and not sparkly enough in the flesh, and nothing like the Sup 1 met red.

Just browsed the Simon effort page, and it looks like a case of the dirt dulls and darkens the colour, afterwards it looks another colour altogether, the one I saw won't get that care, driven by this is just a car to get around in types I suspect.
