07 Plate MKII VRS Steering Rumble

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Just after some advise. I have a Magic Black 07 Plate Octavia VRS which has done 35k

I have noticed that when turning the wheel left or right their is a slight rumble noise coming from the left wheel arch. You can mainly hear this inside the car and not so much outside. I took it down to Winchester Motor Company who had a look for me and have advised I would need some parts changing on the left and right suspension (Not the springs) with 2 hours labour and parts coming to £263.

I have attached their findings here to see if people agree or disagree and believe it could be something else.

Forgot to add. If anyone is in the Hampshire and feeling nice and would like to take a look, Let me know :)

Looking at the parts picture they have supplied it would appear they are looking at replacing the front suspension top-mounts. I would normally expect the noise to be a knocking rather than a rumbling - however it could be causing extra vibration.

I'm by no means a qualified mechanic but I have only recently left my position at a VAG Approved Bodyshop.

Ok thanks.

It feels and sounds more like friction noise the whole time the wheel is being turned rather than a knocking. I will try and get a video of the noise but not sure the camera will pick it up.
