Polo GTi for sale

Featured Replies

Hi all, selling my X plate, September 2000 Polo GTi 1.6 16v 125bhp. 79,000 miles, although is still in daily use, so will rise.

Good points:

It has full service history (including original PDI report!) with the book fully stamped;

10,300 miles – 12th December 2001 (VW)

12,518 miles – 25th February 2002 (VW)

19,501 miles – 4th March 2003 (VW)

25,683 miles – March 2004 (VW)

36,067 miles – 19th November 2004 (VW)

45,614 miles – 24th June 2005 (VW)

52,340 miles – 18th May 2006 (VW specialist)

52,643 miles – 31st May 2006 (brake fluid only) (VW specialist)

60,007 miles – 24th September 2007 (VW specialist)

68,589 miles (inc. cambelt) – 2nd October 2009 (Supplying dealer)

78,156 miles – 15th September 2010 (VW specialist) (no fault codes found)

Next service due at 88,156 miles or September 2011. Cambelt not due unit 108,000 miles or October 2013.

MOT’d until 23rd September 2011 – no advisories.

Gearbox and clutch changed at 66,229 miles in February 2009. Invoice to prove.

Pedal box recall done by VW FOC, again – invoice to prove.

Genuine original BBS spilt rims refurbished in September 2009. Invoice to prove. However, one of them was marked slightly when a new tyre was fitted (see pictures). They’re also missing two centre caps as one was stolen by some low-life, and another the VW symbol fell off its backing.

New front brake pads and disks in October 2009.

Brakes bled by us roughly April 2010.

It has all the normal GTi spec, including;

  • Xenon headlamps and washers

  • Climate control (A/C still blows cold)
  • BBS split rims
  • ABS with disks all round
  • Remote locking and alarm
  • 6 CD changer (original HU will be included)
  • Electric windows and mirrors (heated elements still work)

All mechanically sound. Since I’ve owned the car all I’ve spent money on is petrol (getting around 37-40 per tank, roughly 350-370 miles), tax etc. and a new HT lead, as it had a generic one on which looked out of place, a new mirror switch as I broke the old one with my knee. Otherwise it’s cost nothing to keep going.

Bad bits;

Rear tyres could do with replacing. Decent tread levels, but the side walls are perished slightly. I was planning to do it when it goes onto winter wheels. Fronts are fine – one new Falken 912 and a Dunlop Sport.

Standard rear wiper will be refitted before sale.

The paint and bodywork aren’t in mint condition as you’d expect for a 10 year old car. The leading edge of the bonnet is stone chipped, and there are a few parking dents on the car, although most aren’t noticeable. The worst one is on the driver’s door where the wind caught it and it hit the edge of the window sill. Quoted £60 to have it removed. There’s also a minor crease in the passenger rear quarter panel, but you don’t really notice this unless it’s pointed out and another dent in the sill from something. This isn’t too noticeable now it’s painted over again. The rear bumper also has a small crack in it. I have tried to show these in the photos, but not sure how they’ll come out. The interior is fine though and not smoked in.

It also has some 6x9 speakers in it, as the previous owner fitted some, which they removed before selling. I opted for speakers as they’re cheaper than a replacement parcel shelf, although you can’t hear them upfront.

I’ve tried to cover everything, although I might have missed something else. Any questions, feel free to PM/email me. joe_alford1[at]msn[dot]com

Test drives are welcome only if I see proof of insurance and accompany you.

Car is located in Aylesbury (HP21) mostly and Wheatley, just outside Oxford when I’m in university. Viewing is welcome at either, (Wheatley subject to time).

Looking for around £2,950 but open to sensible offers or swap/ part exchange for suitable Fabia vRS.

Thanks for looking, Joe.
