Power steering

Featured Replies

My felicia 1.6 glxi has power steering but im not sure if its working 100% as the steering seems to be pretty heavy, i do have alloys on but i dont think this would make a difference. Is the steering usually heavy on felicias or?

do you here the steering pump whirring on full lock?

park the car up and try turning the wheel with engine/ignition off, you will notice the difference :)

On some other VAG cars I have experienced much smoother steering after replacing the fluid in the PAS system. Remember to use geniue VAG fluid only as other fluids may damage the seals over time.

No i havent tried that yet, another thing with the steering is that it does creak quite alot when turning, close to full lock.

Never did get around to bleeding the system, but i was driving down the road the yesterday and went down a pretty big bump in the road and i heard a whirring kind of sound then when i went around the roundabout at the bottom the steering seemed to be much lighter, do you think the power steering has somehow been 'knocked banck into action'? lol

Maybe it dislodged something?

However before it was always 100% heavy but now its roughly light 50% of the time and heavy the other 50%, maybe i should try bleeding the PAS system, how would i go about doing this?
