Fabia mk1 1.4TDI common faults/issues?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, just enquiring about known/common faults with the mk 1 Fabia 1.4 TDI. Dad's just bought an 05 Ambiente, and it all seems pretty good. 63k,one owner, and fully serviced on the button by the supplying main dealer. Was just wondering if there are any faults/issues with either this model or engine, that are worth checking or looking into? Thanks in advance. Cheers,Paul.

What,no issue's at all? Lol,thats my type of car!

Door seals -check for wet carpets

Rear windscreen washer pipe coming off - mine did ,but since making sure it's got 50% mix -no problems .

Bit that's general Fabia problems. Make sure that the cambelt ( and the other things that are advised at same time) have been done -should have been -at four years /60k .

Otherwise -enjoy .

NOTE: I've read of these, not experienced all of them. :)

The usual for any Fabia: Console bushes, groaning rear brakes, Petrol filler cap cable detaching, boot lock issues, door carriers leaking.

Have just replaced console, front and ARB bushes plus drop links. This is the only repair work needed in 135K and we live up a rough farm track.

Brilliant machines - only complaint is so slow to warm up in winter!

Thanks guys, doesnt sound like anything nasty is about to leap out at us then. Its been fully serviced by supplying Skoda dealer every time on the button, including cambelt & tensioner last year, just had full 60k service and brake pad/brake fluid change when he picked it up,so hopefully it'll be a good 'un for him. Currently getting 50 mpg just pottering around,so he's very happy! Cheers,Paul.

Hope your Dad enjoys his car as much as I have with mine.

I’ve now completed in excess of 80,000 miles. Reversing lights packed up a few weeks ago, probably wire to the switch - going to have a look later today as it's meant to stay dry. Apart from that it's a great little car and always comes in at 60 + mpg. It’s nippy enough and it pulls the trailer and 8 bags of coal no bother.

PD75......yeah it drives lovely, really goes well for a 3 cylinder 75 bhp car, much nippier than you'd expect. Would deffo recommend one to anyone. Cheers,Paul.
