Superb V6 2.8 Misfire 4 5 6

Featured Replies

I have an annoying problem with my superb V6 2.8

Last month I replaced the timing belt with tensioner, what I do is to mark the old belt and pulleys, then make the exact same marks on the new belt and match them with the marks on the pulleys, start the engine and all works fine... no strange noises nor vibrations...

Now the motor is hesitating and the loss of power is noticeable, take out my VAG and the codes are misfire on cylinders 4 5 6 only, all 3 cylinders from left side cam.

I take the spark plug cables, and ignition coil from other Superb and tried them on the car and the problem persist so I measure the compressions and the reads where 170 PSI on all 6 cylinders.

I´m desperate now, maybe the valves are bad for this cam but then, why the compressions are the same on both cams?

Please help me!!!!!

Any idea is well revived, thanks in advance...

PD: sorry my english.

Maybe it might be a timing problem,,,although you state all the marks on the new belt were transfered, it is still possible to be one or two notches out on the timing, but in hindsight, the timing would effect the other bank of cylinders as well. So basically if your getting the firing on one bank of cylinders, and not on the otherside, then to me it sounds like the camshaft timing is out in relation to the misfire. Also, it is possible that the timing isnt correct in conjunction with the crankshaft / camshafts as it is critical that they are absolutely spot on...even one notch out will give poor running. My advice is to recheck the timing in relation to the marks on the engine and check that they are all lined up on both cylinder banks...if that part is ok, then it is possible it is a fuel problem, and possible that the cylinder head that is malfuntioning is suffering from fuel shortage Hopefully someone else might throw in a few idea's and come up with an answer and get your car back on the road  ...regards skodanut
