Changing the Skoda radio

Featured Replies

Basically I am considering changing my Stream radio for one with bluetooth built in

Has anyone found a good aftermarket radio that fits well and looks good in the dash? I'm not normally one for going away from an official manufacturers radio, but I am swaying towards it because of cost...

I would like a Bolero, but they are coming up quite expensive!

I found this replacement

Really is a matter of personal choice but I have the Timelesslong 7501, after a member here brought some back from China which looks like this in my vRS

i had a sony xplod in my last car (Kia Sedona) which was useless. The built in microphone didn't work properly, which the seller insisted was because I had a big (2.9) diesel engine which was sending too many vibrations through the chassis. Was only too glad to leave the unit in the car when I sold it! The retailer did claim to have sold some to such "noisy" cars as Lotus Elan etc, with no problem.

Not convinced personally.

Hi there

How much were you thinking of paying for a bolero?

I have one out of my VRS as I replaced it with a columbus as soon as i bought the car.

Make me an offer....?

Essexskoda beat me to it - upgrade to a Bolero - you won't regret it. I have and I now have 12 cd's via two multichangers and a 4Gb sdhc card with at least 100 tracks on it and growing weekly. Mine's also had a BT kit fitted to it at some time but didn't come with it. The MP3 Stream's gathering dust at the mo....

Sorry to jump in on this thread, can I ask Paul 007, when you fitted your Bolero did it fit straight in and were there any problems with the rear connections, also did the Aux connection still work ok. Also did you have to alter the Canbus at all? thanks for any help.

No, it's plug and play and it all works fine. The only thing that doesn't work is the display for the rear parking sensors (and the other related displays such as temperature/date etc) but who needs a display when you should be looking where you're going !

Is yours a Octavia 1 or 2? Will the Bolero fit into a Octy 1?

how are you getting on with this unit ? i am seriously thinking of buying one of these units for my vrs, not quite sure about a couple of things though,

does the radio display the station name ?

does the unit have its own phonebook or do you have to dial everything via your mobile first ?

is the cd/sd/usb interface easy to use ? {from the pics and vids i have seen, the play/pause/rewind buttons look very tiny and not very clear}

i can buy one of these brand new from a uk seller, for around 340ish, the only thing thats stopping me, is that i am not sure about the quality and reliabilty of these chinese imports, although the 7501 does seem to have good reviews. what do you reckon, is it worth the risk ????
