Plastic securing clips

Featured Replies

I need to buy some plastic clips that secure the engine shied on to the underside of the car. Anyone got any ideas?

They're not plastic clips - but there are 4 different fasteners holding this undertray - only VAG...

Front central is an M6 nut. Other front fasteners are shorter Dzus fasteners. At the rear are longer Dzus fasteners - don't mix these up with the front ones.

In each front wheel arch there are two plastic "T" fasteners.

This is a design of sheer genius - of course, the Skoda dealer which serviced my car prior to delivery lost some of these. They're all readily available (at a stupid price) from your local VW dealer. So many of these things get lost that a good storeman will find them all without consulting EKTA.

Make sure the undertray is correctly fitted with all of the fasteners - then keep it away from the dealers.

Dzus are £2.50 each btw.

Thanks for that. You are right it came back from garage service minus a few clips.

I replaced my missing ones with big, wide-headed self-tappers. They fix it much more firmly and cost me about £3 for a pack of 8

Is there no better system to easily fit the engine splash shield? My garage mixed up all the screws and now I'm missing halve of these.

Also there should be some rubber washers installed somewhere, where exactly?

My garage installed even the Dzus and 1 T nut behind the wheels.

But I tried to remove the T nut behind the wheels but its very difficult. You need a very big screwdriver but then you can not acces it because of the weel.

Is there a special tool required?

How many washer do you realy need? Only at the silver screws dzus?

Have a search around for plastic rivets.

If any garage is incapable of refitting the undertray to VAG's (admittedly totally stupid) design, they are certainly not fit to carry out any other work on this vehicle. Find a good Independent who knows what he's doing.

The thin rubber washers go around the Dzus fasteners above the undertray to render them captive and to prevent fretting. Bodges such as self tappers and cable ties will just turn the car into a wreck as bits fall off.

Replacements are easier to find on ebay under Audi.
