170cr 4x4 estate

Featured Replies

I have ordered the 170cr 4x4 estate elegance and it is being built in BW50 (hopefully). I have never had a 4 wheel drive car before, firstly does anyone know what generation the Haldex coupling is, and secondly have any of you any experience of the Superb 4x4. The reason I went for it was the harshness of the winters we seem to be getting lately.

I'll let you know. Mine arrives at the end of the month. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif That was BW40.

It is Haldex Fourth Generation. Enjoy yours. Phil. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

With the fourth generation haldex, can you manually select 4 wheel drive, ie on snow, ice or mud. Think I have heard you can do this on the Yeti.

No, the ECU brings in the rear axle when it detects a lack of traction. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Just had another thought, does the 4x4 have a higher ride hight than the 2 wheel drive version? I would get this info of the Skoda web site, but that has only the minimum of info.

No, It's just heavier. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

There is an "Optional" off-road button for the Yeti, but not for the Superb.

Brilliant car, refined, well equiped, returning 42-46 mpg and watch the envious looks this winter.

I would have bought one of these, but for that very fact. The ground clearance on all Superb models, both 2WD and 4WD, is identical, at 139mm. I wanted the extra ground clearance (179mm), 4WD, large load carrying ability and a non-SUV look, hence my decision to go with an Octavia Scout.

Now if they do decide to make a Superb Scout, that's another story...

I too will be carrying large loads, if the ground clearance becomes a problem, Ill simply change the struts for coilovers and increase the height slightly.

My TT got me through the worst snow the Pennines has seen for years and it's lower than my Superb. Can't wait for a good fall this winter in the Skoda.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I bought my Superb Combi TSI 160 4x4 with the Offroad option. Included in that option was 18mm higher rideheigt, protection for engine and transmission, extra protection for the underside of the body and stronger suspension. So there are alredy a Superb Scout but without the (in my opinion) ugly plastic decoration.

Hi, what country are you from? those options aren't available in the uk, sound good though, I would consider an after market skid pan for the underside of the car, also need to look at raising it.

A bit to the northeast from you, in Sweden. I can check the optioncode for you. Though i find it weird that option isnt available in the UK. I dont think your country roads are that much better then the swedish ones.

Does the diesel 170 bhp 4x4 have the twin exit exhaust, or is this just for the 3.5litre 4x4 version

Diesel 4x4 has twin-exit, but only on the near-side... the V6 has the twin-twin exit's...
