09 Vrs 9,000 miles flashing PRNDS DSG !

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just purchased an Octavia Vrs on an 09 plate (pre facelift), had it about 6 weeks. Its covered 9,000 miles. I have felt the DSG gearbox a bit kind of 'lumpy' over the past few days, and tonight whilst travelling slowly in traffic all the gear lights started flashing (P R N D S). It still travelled along ok, but I was only doing about 20mph at the time. I pulled in, and being and 'IT Guy' decided the best course of action was to switch it off and switch it back on again, which of course seems to have cured the problem.

I have read a few articles on the VW forums regarding this issue, and it could mean a seriously expensive (although under warranty) DSG box problem. Any thoughts or advice please, I can guarentee if I take it back to the dealers they won't be able to replicate the problem. Will a fault code show up in the history however?

Thoughts appreciated.

If the lights have flashed up then an error has occured and a fault should be stored. Could be a range of things, maybe a new mechatronic unit.

I'd put my money on a faulty temp sensor, there was a recall for this.

Cheers, is there any details somewhere on this recall, and how would I find out if it had been done?

Contact the dealer with your chassis number and ask if its applicable, you can also find someone local with diags to check the code.
