Egr valve help!

Featured Replies

The check engine light keeps coming on, had the car scanned & it's coming back with something to do with the Egr valve (can't remember the fault code)

I'm guessing if I fit an Egr delete pipe thing, then the check engine light will stay on all the time. Would there be anyway around this? And where is the Egr valve actually located on the engine & is it a simple job to whip it off and give it a bit of a clean as a temp measure?

You need to have the light mapped out if you get a delete kit, so might as well ask for more power at the same time :)

Remove the engine cover. Follow the boost pipe from the bottom left of the engine bay up to the top. The egr is what the pipes attachs too.

Ta, I'm thinking if I take out the Egr valve and try and clean it (as a temp measure before I can justify a remap/delete kit to myself)'I'd be ok spraying a shedload of brake and clutch/carb cleaner down it, wouldnt I? If not, what else would people suggest using.

As long as its removed first, you dont want to spray a load of cleaner into the intake they really dont like it.

Best take it off and get an old tooth brush in there and scrub it. Rubber up first though, that stuff is hellish to get off especially if your soft handed unlike me.

So take it off, carb cleaner & toothbrush seems like the best idea?

Will give that a try!
